CLEMENTINE KEENAN

Clementine Keenan is assembling a counterhistory from the photographic archive of her boyhood. Through an adapted process of hand-pressed, mixed-media monoprint, Keenan’s ongoing series, Screen Memories, explores how snapshot photography has shaped the way we understand childhood subjectivity, transgender identity, and our evolving conceptualizations of one's persona. Keenan has exhibited widely, and next spring her work will be featured in the National Portrait Gallery's triennial exhibition of contemporary American portraiture, The Outwin 2025. She grew up in Sacramento and currently holds a studio in West Oakland, CA.
